happy home school for the blind

"A well-designed space that nurtures the need, the Happy Home and School for the Blind is a testament to sensitive design"

The challenge was to design a space for blind children taking their mobility and security into consideration.

“When designing the Happy Home for the Blind, I groped and searched in the dark, with the blind children’s ease of movement and physical safety predominant in my mind. It was a labour of love I relished doing,” said I.M.Kadri.

The Happy Home and School for the Blind houses around 200 students. It consists of teaching rooms, dormitories, auditorium, a gymnasium and other departments centred around vocational training in fields like ceramics, handloom and more. Fifteen to twenty students are accommodated in each room.
