Jivan Maneck

"Built in 1968, this residential tower symbolizes luxury living even today"

The two residential buildings ‘Jivan’ and ‘Manek’ were built in Mumbai’s tony Malabar Hill on a curved slope with an inclination of 55 feet. The lay of the land made it a challenge to build two high-storey buildings.

The lower three floors are utilised for parking to reduce the road level noise and to raise the apartments for a better view. Each apartment has a living room and an adjacent common balcony at a lower level than the bedrooms and their attached balconies. One enters the apartment through this sunken drawing room and steps lead to the bedrooms. Since the more public areas are discernibly lower than the bedrooms, privacy is maintained at all times. Apart from a beautiful terrace garden and a swimming pool there is a large covered badminton court, too.
