La Famille Hotel

"This ultra-natural resort embodies the idea of ‘’local’’, providing an authentic retreat away from the city"

The La Famille design proposal set out to develop a resort that brought light and greenery into the villas and resort blocks. The hotel was to have elegantly designed restaurants and a well equipped conference hall. Huge public areas, and a holiday activity centre were also part of the plan.

The site had a large, existing man-made water body for rain harvesting on it before work began and all the resort buildings were strategically located overlooking this water body. The site was landscaped with a series of smaller water features cascading down into the main water body thus creating beautiful pools between the buildings; this also helped with the recycling of water.

The villas have a western Konkan influence and resemble the forts in the area. The resort’s room units, however, are built in a variety of styles reflecting a Maharashtrian essence. All the rooms have varied elevations so as to create a sense of the village and bring in a local touch.
