Cumballa Hill Hospital

"An existing hospital in South Mumbai is gradually expanded into a newer medical facility through phase-wise planning"

Our clients envisioned a modern multi-specialty hospital created around the existing 50 bedded one, in the heart of congested Mumbai. We worked with them to create a more sophisticated set-up which would give confidence and trust to Mumbai’s sick and elderly.

With a small plot and a restrictive floor plate, going vertical was the only option. The hospital was proposed in two phases. It was proposed to build phase one in the adjoining plot of land, shift the existing hospital into the phase one building and then construct phase two in the place of the existing structure. The core of the phase one building was first designed for multi-function use, the idea being that this could then be used at a later stage, in the phase two as well.

With an optimum use of space and planned synchronization between various departments a 200-bed hospital across 2,35,000 Sq.ft. was designed.
