Ratnagiri Administration building
"Greenery and light floods the landscaped terraces providing a break out space for those done with a hard day’s work"
This 35000 sq.ft. administration building designed for JSW’s energy & port staff is refreshing and natural in both form and function.
The design revolved around the concept of employees working in and around nature. The office block is conceptualized as a cube from which voids were created in different corners. These voids were then converted into landscaped terraces, which became pleasant spaces for reflection and sharing.
The entrance to the office block is an atrium space floated on a water body which draws in skylight from the roof. The lush terrace gardens at different levels flood natural light into the atrium space, further connecting it to the external environment.
The entire glass façade is shaded with a screen of louvers to reduce the amount of heat absorbed by the building. This makes the structure energy-efficient and creates an eco-friendly space for individuals to unwind in nature.
Using tall glass partitions we tried to create a virtual connection between the atrium, workspace & terrace garden thus making the user feel like he is working in an expansive environment.
